Belmont Scout Dillon Sheehan achieves Eagle Rank

Built Literary Boxes for the Perkins School of the Blind to help kids enjoy stories by interacting with objects.

Dillon Sheehan (second from left) from Belmont Boy Scout Troop 304 achieved his Eagle Scout rank on November 21st, 2017. For his Eagle Project, he created literacy boxes for elementary students at Perkins School For The Blind. Literacy boxes are tools for kids who have multiple disabilities and contain objects that relate to a storybook. These objects help students understand parts of the story that may be difficult for them. Volunteers went through a training course and read to the students as part of the project. Dillon is pictured with his Scoutmaster Lee Ackerson (far left) and members of his Board of Review that awarded him the Eagle Rank, the highest rank in scouting.
