Election Days: Important Dates For Belmont Residents

With summer on the wane, political contests are coming to the ballot.

You know summer is winding down when eyes begin to slowly turn to the slate of elections coming in the fall.

And this odd numbered year will see residents heading to the polls for both state and federal primary and final contests.

Town Clerk Ellen O'Brien Cushman wants all residents to remember these important dates in the 2010 election cycle.

This year's state party primary elections for representatives and senate seats will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14 with the final state election is on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

The last day to register to vote in the state primary election is Wednesday, Aug. 25.  That day the Town Clerk's office will be open extended hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Absentee ballot applications will be due into the Town Clerk's office at Noon, Monday, Sept. 13 for the next day's primary election.

The last day to register for the state election is Wednesday, Oct. 13.  And, again, the Town Clerk's office will be open for extended hours.

And absentee ballots for the state election will need to be presented by Monday, Nov. 1 at Noon at the Clerk's office.

On both election days, polling places open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
