Belmont Public Library Author Event Steven and Harrison Stark

Steven Stark and Harrison Stark will talk about their book World Cup 2010: The Indispensable Guide to Soccer and Geopolitics on Saturday May 22 at 3 PM at the Belmont Public Library.  
  Learn why Spain never wins, Brazil often does, and what the US and Mexico really need to do to win the Cup. Discover, too, what the first World Cup in Africa will mean - from Mandela to mythical spirits. Each team profile features a squad breakdown, players to watch, predictions, and an analysis of team tactics, tradition, coaching techniques, and even the national anthems that will be played before each match. 

Steven D. Stark, a former world sports columnist for the Montreal Gazette ahas been a commentator for CNN, National Public Radio, and the Voice of America, where his job was to try to interpret American culture to the rest of the world.  He is is also the author of Glued to the Set: The 60 Television Shows and Events That Made Us Who We Are Today, Meet the Beatles: A Cultural History of the Band That Shook Youth, Gender, and the World, Writing to Win: The Legal Writer.  Harrison Stark, is currently a student at Brown University.
