The Burbank Elementary School in Belmont was recently recognized by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and the Department of Environmental Protection for their Green Team efforts in the 2011-2012 school year. As recognition, the School won a free concert by Earthtunes, an environmental singing group.
Come to Burbank and celebrate!!!
Wednesday June 13 at 6:30pm
Bring your family and friends. The show is free and OPEN to the public. If the weather is good, it will be held on the front lawn of the Burbank School. (If rain it will be held in the gymnasium.) As a fundraising effort to support the school's transition from styrofoam trays to reusable ones, please bring MA redeemable bottles and cans for recycling. This is a great way to support the school's ongoing efforts AND celebrate the last day of Belmont Public Schools.
Burbank was one of 14 schools chosen state-wide to receive recognition. This year Burbank increased awareness of recycling throughout the school and added plastic recycling; and recycling in the school's kitchen. They also expanded their use of rain barrels and composting. In addition, they began a process to eliminate styrofoam tray use in the cafeteria.
