Powers Music School Faculty Concert

This exciting performance will feature Powers instructor Susanna Fiore on piano, joined by Jay Girill on acoustic bass, playing jazz standards and music composed by great jazz pianists like Bud Powell, Thelonius Monk, Fats Waller, and Bill Evans.

In addition, Powers faculty members Lisle Kulbach and Jay Rosenberg will perform with their fellow Voices of the Turtle ensemble member Ian Pomerantz. They will play a variety of instruments, including violin, harp, psaltery, dumbek, rebec and bouzouki. The trio will be presenting some of the Mediterranean-wide musical traditions of the Sephardic Jews. From lullabies to laments and wedding songs to ballads, this vibrant and intimate music of the cultural descendents of the Iberian Jewish community will be sure to warm your hearts this winter!

Sponsored in part by the Belmont Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
