Second Friday Coffeehouse presents Richard Curzi & Positive Energy with The Blood Mountain Brothers and The Linden Singers
Belmont native, Richard Curzi, returns to the Second Friday Coffeehouse for the 11th time, performing both sets in a variety of musical configurations guaranteed to delight lovers of all music genres.
The first set will be an “unplugged” acoustic set featuring Richard on solo piano; First Church’s own a-cappella blue-grass gospel quartet, The Linden Singers (with Roger Read, Paul Judge, and John Howe), and The Blood Mountain Brothers (with Roger Brown, Jim Wooster, Paul Judge, and Rick Dimino) that performed Americana roots music to great acclaim this past March at the Berklee Café 939.
The second set will be classic Positive Energy fare - an unconventionally eclectic mix of nostalgic pop, jazz, and folk styles, with lots of richly textured vocal harmonies and virtuosic instrumental improvisations.

Positive Energy has audiences saying "We were in a frenzy of delight - I can't remember smiling so much!" The band is a benefit concert favorite that drew a sellout crowd and raised over $11,000 for Haiti, and over $4,000 for the Belmont Parents of Music Students. Featuring Roger Brown and Mark Kohler on drums and percussion, Rick Dimino on bass, Jerry Twomey & Jim Wooster on guitar, and vocalists Paul Judge, Bridget Curzi, Angelina Mbulo, Kate Judge, Grace Mason-Brown, Roger & Hannah Read, and John Howe.
Proceeds will benefit two organizations with Belmont roots: Belmont Against Racism - An organization founded in 1992 to promote dialogue, awareness, and understanding about prejudice and to celebrate diversity in Belmont; and The Unitarian Transylvanian Archives Project - An organization formed to protect and extend the knowledge of Unitarianism by organizing, preserving, and making accessible the extensive collection of historic materials that document the history of this faith.
