Fire On Belmont Street At Chinese Restaurant
Smoke was apparently showing at the back of a small strip of businesses on Belmont Street Saturday.
BELMONT, MA — A fire at 151 Belmont St, shut down the road near the border with Cambridge for about a half hour as Belmont Firefighters worked to put a fire that appears to have started in the kitchen of a restaurant there.
When firefighters arrived, they reported smoke showing from the back of the building where Shangrila Chinese, Lord's Cleaners and Belmont Spa and Nails are housed. About an hour after the firefighters were called to the fire the smell of smoke hung in the air as onlookers stood across the street watching from Intelligentsia Coffee and the bus stop.
Captain Richard Nohl said it appeared the fire started in the kitchen of the Chinese restaurant.

No one was injured in the fire, said Nohl. Officials were still investigating what caused the fire and what type of damages the restaurant sustained, he said.
Belmont Street was shut down at Marion Road and at Temple Road and the MBTA buses were stuck waiting on both sides.
