Belmont House Blaze Demands Several Companies

A firefighter reportedly suffered a non-life threatening injury during the fire.

BELMONT, MA — Several area fire departments responded to a house fire on Choate Rond near Fresh Pond Friday afternoon. Belmont, Cambridge and Watertown firefighters were battling a fire at a two-story home.

Just before 2 p.m. someone called 911 to report a fire in a home at 2-5 Choate Road. According to witnesses fire trucks screamed down Belmont and Trapelo to the fire and when fire officials got there they found smoke pouring out. Soon flames, too, poured out of the rear of the building. Witnesses told fire officials that everyone made it out in time.

At least two alarms were struck, and at least six fire trucks and multiple police were on the scene.

A Belmont firefighter allegedly suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to media reports.

The home, at 3-5 Choate Road, is actually a two family home. One condo is worth $510,000 the other $470,000. It's unclear at this point which unit the fire started in, but the building's total worth is assessed by the town to be around $980,000.
