Belmont is under a “Wind Chill Watch” through Thursday morning, Jan. 8, as wind chills could drop to 25 to 30 degrees below zero Wednesday night into Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
During the Wednesday evening rush hour, wind chills are expected to drop to 15 below. Wind chills should continue to fall Wednesday night into Thursday morning and then rise back up to 15 below by noon Thursday, according to the service.

A “Wind Chill Watch” is called when there is a potential for wind chills to fall to 25 below or lower for at least three hours.
When wind chills are 30 below, frostbite can occur in roughly 10 minutes, according to the service.
