Jewish History Through Coins Topic at Beth El Friday

Part of "Table Talk" discussions.

"Coins Tell the Story: Misconceptions of Jewish History" will be the topic of Table Talk featuring Numismatist and Historian David Wray, on Friday, Nov. 8 beginning of 6:15 p.m. at Beth El Temple Center's Zonis Auditorium.

The talk is open to the public.

Wray has used ancient coins to glimpse into the world of the ancients, to understand their beliefs and specifically how Christianity, with more than a billion followers today, reached its position of dominance from an offshoot of Judaism.

Ancient coins also speak about diverse Jewish points of view, offer hints about lost tribes of Israel, and even provide insights about the divergence of Judaism and Christianity.

Objects speak to those who understand their language. Ancient rubble, shards, statues, vases, coins, friezes, even graffiti can give glimpses into the past, how lives were lived and views held.

Please mail your check to BETC for $12 per person and $15 at the door for the Middle Eastern dinner. You can also write to the adultedbetc@gmail.com or call the Paulette at 617-230-9348 by Nov. 6.
