Kids Concert at the Library, Making Candle Holders and One Day on Abbey Road

Events occurring in Belmont on Thursday, Aug. 8.

1. Musician Hugh Hanley will be performing a concert for young children and their families at 10:30 a.m. in the Assembly Room of the Belmont Public Library. 

2. Want to help decide what sort of public art will be placed at the new Joey's Park? The head over to the Belmont Public Library's Flett Room at 7:30 p.m. for a meeting of the Joey's Park Public Art Project Committee

3. On a rainy day, it's good to know that the Benton Library, Belmont's independent community library operated by a league of volunteers, is open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today. The library is at the corner of Old Middlesex and Oakley.

4. Indigo Fire at 60 Concord Ave. is holding a fun workshop at 6 p.m. on how to make Glass Votive Candle Holders. No experience necessary. They will teach you everything! $30 for a set of your own holders.

5. On this day in 1969, at a crosswalk in London, photographer Iain Macmillan takes the photo that becomes the cover of the Beatles album, "Abbey Road," one of the most famous album covers – for those younger than 35, LP covers were a big deal once – in history.
