Loving Ann and Chris on the Convention Floor

Tuesday night was amazing; the crowd loved Ann Romney. She talks about Mitt the man, husband and father so eloquently and with such passion. There was definitely a feeling on the floor of "what a fantastic First Lady she would be!" It was especially poignant when she talked about the struggles she and Mitt have endured, including her MS and her battle with cancer. As she said, they don't have the "storybook marriage" some think they do, they have "a real marriage." 

Everyone was very pumped up after hearing from Ann, and then on came Chris Christie who we knew would give a fiery speech. He did not disappoint! The energy in the room was incredible. Being on the floor of the convention, surrounded by fellow Republicans, hearing amazing speakers talk about our party's principles and our nominee, Mitt Romney; this is what I was hoping for from my convention experience!

I really enjoyed Christie's focus on being honest with the voters and being willing to make tough choices. I think he really summed up what the Romney/Ryan ticket is going to be about: not shying away from finding substantive solutions to the very real problems facing America. I particularly liked his line, "our leaders today have decided it is more important to be popular, to do what is easy and say 'yes,' rather than to say no when 'no' is what's required."

The delegates have been talking about all sorts of things, including the speeches we've heard and those to come, and what we've been up to in our downtime. In the Massachusetts delegation, there are a number of elected officials and Republican State Committee members, so we've also been talking about state and local politics - and Scott Brown, of course. 

The weather has definitely returned to typical Florida in August weather, meaning sunshine followed by torrential rain followed by blue skies.  It's like the old saying about New England weather, how if you don't like it, just wait 15 minutes and it will change.  Except here it's more like wait one minute and it will change.
