Make That Favorite Teacher A STAR

The end of the school year is a time for the three R's: Relief, Reflection and Relaxation.

Now you can add a fourth R to that list: Rewarding work well done.

In a growing tradition sponsored by the Foundation for Belmont Education, families are honoring those Belmont teachers and staff members who made a difference in their student's life or the lives of the entire school population by making a STAR Award donation in their name to the FBE.

Students, families or individuals may also order a Friend Award to honor the person who has, for example, volunteered in a classroom, served on a PTO, or simply cares about our schools.

Donations are $20 per Award issued.

While awards are processed at any time during the year, please order by Friday, June 11 if you wish to assure delivery before the end of the school year.

Go to www.fbe-belmont.org/Support_Star_Awards.asp to order a STAR or Friend Award. You may pay for your transaction online with a credit card or download the STAR order form and mail your check to the Foundation.

The FBE is proud to report that, during the last two years, the Foundation has awarded more than $400,000 to the Belmont Public Schools in the form of Learning Excellence Grants, Professional Development support, and large-scale special initiatives. According to the FBE, these projects that make a difference in the daily lives of Belmont teachers and students cannot be funded through the school budget. With your support, the FBE will continue to extend our mission throughout the Belmont Public Schools.
