Massachusetts Women Have a Good Life, Study Finds
The Commonwealth was found to be one of the best states for women.

Life in Massachusetts is pretty good for women compared to other states, a WalletHub study reports.
The study found that Massachusetts women have the second best quality of life in the country.
WalletHub, a personal finance social network, determined which states were the best and worst states for women in 2015 by judging all 50 states and the District of Columbia based on women’s economic well-being, social well-being and health care factors.

Massachusetts was ranked first in the lowest female uninsured rate and had the highest percentage of women who were up-to-date on cervical and breast cancer screenings.
Minnesota was found to be the only state with a better environment for women than Massachusetts.

Women might want to avoid living in Arkansas, as it was ranked the worst place for women to live.
The study took these economic and social well-being factors into account for each state:
- Median earnings of female workers
- Unemployment rate for women
- Percentage of women living in poverty
- Share of women-owned businesses
- High school dropout rate for women
- WalletHub’s rankings on “Working Moms” and “Women’s Equality”
- Percentage of women who voted in the 2012 presidential election.
The study also reviewed these health care factors:
- Top-rated women’s hospitals
- Female uninsured Rate
- Women’s preventative health care
- WalletHub’s findings on “Best States to Have a Baby”
- Women’s life expectancy at birth
