Never Too Soon: 2010-2011 School Calendar is Out

Students have been let out of Belmont Schools for about a week and summer vacation is in full swing.

What better time than now for the school department to put out next year's school calendar?

In a case of better early than late, the department has placed on its website the dates and events taking place in the 2010 – 11 school year.

New staff will report on Aug. 24 – 26 while school begins for students on Wednesday, Sept. 1, which is an early release day, too boot.

But parents of sixth, eight, 10^th and 11^th graders should be forewarned that those students' first day is Sept. 2.

Half of the districts' Kindergarteners will begin classes on Thursday, Sept. 2 with the others start Friday, Sept. 3.

Finally, the first full day of school will be Tuesday, Sept. 7.

In terms of the long breaks – which are good to know when scheduling holiday traveling and plans – Christmas vacation begins Wednesday, Dec. 22 and lasts until Sunday, Jan. 2 while the winter break runs Feb. 21 – 25 and Easter recess begins Saturday, April 16 through Sunday, April 24.

And for seniors, graduation will be Sunday, June 5. And in the unlikely circumstance that the school will not call any snow days, the last day of school is scheduled for Monday, June 20, 2011. Mark your calendars now.
