Scouts prepare Thanksgiving feast in freezing temps
Belmont Troop 304 roast turkeys, shoot potato cannons, and throw tomahawks at annual Thanksgiving camp out in NH.
Scout leader David Emello prepared to roast three turkeys in a pit of coals for 5 hours as Boy Scouts supervised on November 11, 2017. The Thanksgiving feast was the highlight of Belmont Troop 304's annual camp out in Hollis New Hampshire where they also taught younger Cub Scouts from Belmont Pack 377 how to bake bread in Dutch ovens, throw tomahawks, and fire potato cannons. The scouts braved record lows as the temperature dipped into the teens, but the sumptuous meal made it all worthwhile.
Boy Scout Christopher Bauge (left) taught Cub Scout Gavin Poma how to mash potatoes with a propane-fueled cannon as father Allen Poma tracked the flying spud.
