I have chosen to captain a screening of Girl Rising, a documentary about girls’ education. Girl Rising was created by 10x10, a worldwide campaign for girls’ education and empowerment to raise awareness of girls who can’t go to school or have to struggle to go. It follows the stories of nine girls from countries such as Haiti, Egypt, and Afghanistan. Each story is narrated by an amazing actress. The girls each worked with a writer who helped them tell their stories. The foundation distributes the documentary by getting a Captain to pick a theater, date, and time and then publicize the screening. One hundred tickets need to be sold by July 9th in order for my screening of the documentary to show. So please hurry to buy a ticket to this stunning and thought-provoking film. Girl Rising will come to the Regal Fenway Theatre on July 25th at 7:30pm, only if 100 tickets are pre-sold by July 9th. Tickets are $10 each and available by going to http://gathr.us/screening/4462. Girl Rising has some adult themes and is not appropriate for children under 12 years old.
Thank you for supporting these girls and my B’mitzvotav project, an effort toward "repairing the world," as part of becoming Bat Mitzvah.
