Showtunes and Classics at the Beech Street Center

Powers Music School faculty members play your favorite tunes at the Beech Street Center, Belmont, on Friday, March 13, 1:15 pm.

The Neighborhood Concert Series at Powers Music School presents “Songs Without Words,” Friday, March 13, 1:15 p.m., at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech Street, Belmont, with faculty members Laura Blustein, cello, and Kathryn Rosenbach, piano.

Rich in tone and emotion, Blustein and Rosenbach will lead the audience through Mendelssohn’s beloved “Songs Without Words” as well as transcriptions of Brahms and Schubert that are used in pieces from popular musicals and standards. The artists discuss how the classics evoke words in modern transcriptions.

The Neighborhood Concert Series is free to attend, and is supported in part by East Boston Savings Bank and grants from the Cambridge Arts Council and Waltham Cultural Council, local agencies supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. See all concert details at www.powersmusic.org/faculty_concerts.
