Snow Emergency Declared for Belmont

School is closed and parking bans are in effect.

BELMONT, MA - A snow emergency was declared for Belmont Monday.

Parking bans are in effect from 6 p.m. Monday Feb. 8 to 6 a.m the following morning. The ban means parking on the streets is prohibited.

Belmont public schools were closed and all recreational activities cancelled Monday. Moderator Michael Widmer recessed Monday’s special town meeting until Feb. 22.

Belmont residents can call the snow emergency hotline at (617) 993-2698 for more information.

The National Weather Service predicted between four and six inches of snow for Belmont Monday. Another two to four inches of snow could accumulate over Monday night.

Less than an inch of snow is expected on Tuesday and there are chances of snow showers continuing through Thursday.
