Boys' lacrosse, baseball and track take to the championships
The Belmont Boys' Baseball team learned yesterday, June 1, that they will be hosting a first-round playoff game.
Ranked 7th in the North Division 2 tournament, Belmont will meet the 11th seed Beverly Cougars on Friday, June 4. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
Belmont did not know if it secured a home game in the post season, hoping a strong finish at its Brendan Grant Memorial Tournament could seal the deal.

And that is exactly what they did, winning the championship game in miraculous fashion, coming back from down nine runs to win it all.
After a slow start, only achieving a .500 record after six games, the Marauders finished strong with an overall 13-7 record, placing third in the Middlesex League at 11-7.

Beverly finished fifth in the Northeast League with an 11-9 overall record.
What Beverly can do is score runs, tallying the second most in its league with 141 in 20 games for an average of 7 per game. Belmont average 6 runs per game.
If Belmont advances to the quarterfinals, they know already who they will be playing as tournament second seed, North Andover, was given a bye in the first round.
While the baseball team is preparing for Friday, the Boys' Lacrosse team will be traveling today, Wednesday, June 2, to Billerica to take on Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in the first round game of the East Division 2 tourney.
The game begins at 5 p.m.
Belmont comes into tonight's match 11-5 overall, placing fourth in the Middlesex League behind Reading, Winchester and Lexington.
They are also bringing newly minted All-American Nick Martone and Coach of the Year Paul Graham.
Shawsheen Valley is 12-0 in its league and 16-2 overall having scored a gaudy 204 goals while only giving up 53. Belmont has scored 183 verses 100 let in.
The winner will take on second seed Medfield.
Finally, while his fellow seniors are relaxing on the day before graduationwill be across the state running in the All State Track & Field Outdoor Championships on Saturday, June 5.
Levy is seeded 10th in the one-lap-around-the-track 400-meter sprint. His time of 50.17 seconds is about a second behind the top running in the state.
Qualifying 13th in the 800 meters is fellow senior Andrew Carey with a time of 1:57.83.
Both Levy and Carey will join Dan McCarthy and Tim Deignan in the 4x400 meter relay where the team's time of 3:29.75 places them 14th in the final.
