Spencer Aston of the Powers Music School faculty and The Fenway Brass
Quintet will play William Billings, broadside ballads, and more music
heard from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. The concert is free
thanks to the sponsorship of the Friends of the Belmont Public Library
and the other One Book One Belmont co-sponsors.
The Fenway Brass Quintet is made up of Spencer Aston and Robert
Reustle, trumpets; Elisabeth Axtell, horn; Arthur Thovmasian, trombone;
Jose Martínez-Antón, tuba; Maria Finkelmeier, percussion. Spencer D.
Aston, DMA, is a Lecturer in Music at Bridgewater State University and
University of Massachusetts Boston, and a trumpeter and teacher at
Powers Music School. The members of Fenway Quintet received their
musical training at the world's finest colleges and conservatories,
including Boston University, New England Conservatory, the University of
Gothenburg, the University of Valencia, Cincinnati College Conservatory
of music, and the Eastman School of Music. They can be seen locally
performing with the Atlantic Symphony, Symphony New Hampshire, Indian
Hill Symphony, New Bedford Symphony, and many others. The Fenway Quintet
has been entertaining audiences throughout New England since its
formation in 2006. Fenway's programming explores music both classical
and adventurous, with a special emphasis on educational outreach for
audiences of all ages. It is the quintet's mission to present
