Ukrainian Easter Egg Decorating Demonstration & Sale

Ukrainian Easter Egg Decoration Demonstration at Belmont's Homer House

Crafters, families, and scouts are
invited to view  the ancient art of
Ukrainian Easter egg decoration on Saturday, April 12, from 1:00-2:30 p.m.   The Belmont Woman’s Club is the
sponsor of this program at the 1853 Homer House, 661 Pleasant Street, Belmont.

Erika Cherko-Soykan will
demonstrate the stunning Ukrainian method of decorating Easter eggs, called pysanky, using batik wax-resist methods
to make folk designs.  Ms.
Cherko-Soykan will also discuss the rich cultural context of this art.  Pre-made pysanky will be available for
sale at the event. This is not a workshop, but
attendees will leave with directions to get them started on their own.  Admission is $5 adult or child, $10 for
families.  No reservations are
necessary.   Proceeds benefit
the maintenance of the historic Homer House, a site associated with American
artist Winslow Homer (1836-1910).
Please call 617-484-4892 for more information.
