[VIDEO] Rehearsing on a Summer Night

Belmont's Nathaniel Meyer prepares second edition of Summer Music Festival this weekend.

"Eight from C," said Nathaniel Meyer to the 50 members of the Orchestra, tell them where in the score of Dvorak's Eighth Symphony he wants to go over once again.

"Like it is in nature," he tells the musicians, many – if not most – who are personal friends, musical colleagues of his in middle school and high school and now college. He makes a few gestures to the cellos, glances towards to woodwinds and then a downbeat.

The last movement of the 8th begins to sweep over the Beech Street Center on Friday night, the final of three night rehearsals of the symphony and Dvorak's Cello Concerto by this group of mostly young musicians.
