Will Brownsberger for Congress

I'd like to urge friends and neighbors to vote for Will Brownsberger in the Democratic primary for Congress on Tuesday, October 15.

Will has a long history of public service.  He was an assistant attorney general, a Belmont Selectman, our state representative, and for the last few years our state senator.  For all that time, he has been accessible to his constituents through his internet site as well as by giving his cell phone number out freely.

Will has never taken special interest, political action committee (PAC) or lobbyist contributions  - unlike the other politicians seeking the congressional seat.  He has been a tireless advocate for the environment, for social justice, and for education and education reform . He’s taken some tough stands – like fighting for transparency on Beacon Hill

Will voted against the “three strikes” law in 2012 that was felt to be too harsh by Deval Patrick and others– and he shared his reasoning and even his angst with his constituents.   Carl Sciortino, Karen Spilka and Katherine Grant all voted in favor of this bill.

Will knows how to make government work – and knows how to work well with his ideologic opponents to come to solutions that make a community a better place.  Will played a substantial role in moving Belmont forward in terms of  long term planning and big capital measures including the building of two new firehouses and the senior center.  He’s also been supportive of our public schools.

Will is a progressive regarding environmental preservation, social justice and poverty, education and women’s rights.  He’s also worked hard to help cities and towns have sustainable health care and pension costs.

We need Will’s thoughtfulness and leadership in the US House of Representatives. Let’s send him there.
