Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill Wins 5th Term; New-Look City Council
Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill has been re-elected for a fifth term after holding off a challenge from Dr. Esther Ngotho.

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly voters are sending Mayor Mike Cahill back for a fifth term after he survived a challenge from Dr. Esther Ngotho, while the City Council will look different with four new members after Tuesday's vote.
Cahill earned 69.9 percent of the vote to Ngotho's 26.8 percent, according to unofficial results.

There were contested elections for mayor, City Councilors At-Large and three ward City Council seats. Voters also cast ballots for School Committee members where there were write-in candidates, but no official challengers on the ballot.
There were five City Council At-Large candidates with three openings, plus contested City Council races in Wards 2, 3 and 6.

Julie Flowers, Hannah Bowen and Brendan Sweeney captured the at-large seats with Flowers earning 5,898 votes, Bowen at 4,363 and Sweeney at 3,648. William Cosmas had 3,062 votes with Richard Tabbut getting 1,440.
Bowen and Sweeney are newcomers to the City Council.
"Thank you to all who ran, voted, and supported the candidates through this campaign," Bowen posted on her campaign page. "I'm honored to be joining the City Council in January and am excited to get to work."
"I'll have more on this tomorrow, but for tonight, I wanted to thank everyone who volunteered on the campaign," Sweeney posted. "Whether it was holding signs, donating, or taking a lawn sign for your front yard, you guys were the difference that put us over the top in this race."
In Ward 2, Estelle Rand earned the victory against Kimberly Peckham 850 to 357.
In Ward 3, newcomer Steven Crowley topped Euplio Marciano 623 to 372.
"The election is complete," Crowley posted. "The results are in and they are very favorable."
In Ward 6 — where turnout was particularly high — Matt St. Hilaire topped Dominic Copeland 1,015 to 771.
Todd Rotondo (Ward 1), Scott Houseman (Ward 4) and Kathleen Feldman (Ward 5) were not challenged in their respective wards.
All six school committee races were unchallenged with a write-in campaign from both Jeffey Silva and Linday Ducharme for an uncontested Ward 4 seat with no official candidates and 841 write-in votes cast. Beverly City Clerk Lisa Kent told Patch Tuesday night those write-in results won't officially be tallied and verified until Wednesday.
