'Unforeseen Circumstance' Cuts Lindsay Clancy Triple Murder Trial Short Wednesday: Reports

PLYMOUTH, MA — The Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial ended unexpectedly early Wednesday due to what the judge termed an "unforeseen circumstance," according to media reports.

"Due to some unforeseen circumstance, we're going to excuse you until tomorrow morning, all right," Judge William Sullivan said in an Eyewitness News story. This is not something we saw coming, but you're not to speculate about what it is. You're not to hold it against either side. It's just something that we have to deal with."

Also Wednesday, Sullivan ruled that a "former psychiatric hospital employee who made a TikTok criticizing prosecutors and the facility where Lindsay Clancy was briefly committed will not be allowed to testify at Clancy’s trial," People Magazine reported.

Clancy, 35, is charged with the January 2023 murders of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy.

Clancy, who was treated for postpartum mental health issues, has admitted to killing her children but "her attorney argues she should not be held criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and extreme mental illness when she strangled her kids and then attempted to kill herself," according to CNN.
