Beverly High JROTC Raising Funds For Cadet SCUBA Certification

The training will allow cadets to serve the city by cleaning the ocean shoreline and give them additional educational opportunities.

The MCJROTC program was able to secure a certified SCUBA program at a reduced cost — and has already raised $5,000 to pay for those certifications — but is looking for city resident and business support to supplement the remaining $12,000 needed.

BEVERLY, MA — The Beverly High School Marine Corps JROTC is raising funds for SCUBA training so that cadets can give back to the city in the form of shoreline cleanup and other underwater assistance.

The MCJROTC program was able to secure a certified SCUBA program at a reduced cost — and has already raised $5,000 to pay for those certifications — but is looking for city resident and business support to supplement the remaining $12,000 needed.

"We intend to pursue the training so that we can further provide a civic service to Beverly by cleaning up our shorelines, which will provide valuable environmental education, litter prevention awareness and beautification to our city," Major Ahmad J. Martin said in his fundraising letter to the community. "Becoming a PADI Certified SCUBA Diver is expensive, even at our reduced cost."
