Beverly Manhunt Suspect Arrested

Boston and State Police assisted in the capture of Charles Dixon Thursday.

BEVERLY, MA — The man who sparked a manhunt in Beverly Wednesday was arrested Thursday night, police said.

Boston and State Police assisted in the arrest of Charles Dixon, Beverly Police said in a Facebook post late Thursday night. No additional details on the arrest were available.

Dixon will be arraigned Friday.

"We appreciate the information that we receive from our citizens regarding major events, police wrote. "It assists us in keeping our community safe."

Dixon, 32, was wanted on outstanding warrant charges of witness intimidation, threats to kill, and violation of a 209A restraining order.

Part of Beverly shut down Wednesday afternoon when officers received word that Dixon was in the area of Hilltop Drive near the residence of a domestic violence incident from the over the weekend. Beverly Hospital was under lockdown "out of an abundance of caution," Beverly Police Officer Mike Boccuzzi said. Beverly High School was under lockdown as well.

The search started around 4:30 p.m. and was called off at 7:30 p.m. Police are still searching for Dixon.
