Beverly To Recreate 1776 Declaration Reading At Independence Park

BEVERLY, MA — Historic Beverly is inviting the public to Independence Park on Friday for a public reading tied to the city's Revolutionary-era history.

The program will recreate "the public proclamation of the Declaration of Independence on the very parade grounds where Colonel John Glover's regiment and local citizens first gathered in 1776."

The public is invited to "Come reflect on the enduring words of liberty in a beautiful waterfront setting."

Historic Beverly said the event is free and open to all.

The schedule calls for a 5:30 p.m. gathering followed by a 6 p.m. reading.

Colonel John Glover's regiment and local residents gathered on those parade grounds on July 17, 1776.

The July 17 program is intended to recreate that earlier public moment through a community reading of the Declaration of Independence.
