Lydia Sweetser Is New Program Coordinator

A Healthy Lynnfield, an active community partnership working hard to prevent substance misuse and to ensure those impacted have the help they need, has hired Lydia Sweetser of Beverly as its new Program Coordinator.

In her role, Sweetser will mobilize support for of A Healthy Lynnfield’s mission, engage residents, facilitate work groups and project-based activities, and oversee all aspects of the organization’s youth leadership program. She will supervise A Healthy Lynnfield’s youth leadership activities, implement alternative substance free programs for youth, and partner with other youth-serving organizations on prevention activities.

“Lydia recently received her master’s degree in public health and has experience providing outreach education on the harms of tobacco and nicotine products” said Peg Sallade, Substance Use Prevention Coordinator for the Town of Lynnfield. “Lydia joins Diana DeLeo and me on the team working with the A Healthy Lynnfield coalition and the community to further our goal of reducing youth substance use.”

Sweetser received both her Bachelor of Science and master’s degrees in public health from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. While at UMass, Sweetser was a student ambassador for Tobacco Free UMass, a research assistant for an environmental health science research project, and served as the Director of Internal Logistics for UMass for the Kids.

“Working with youth to help them understand their options and make the right decisions is important to me,” said Lydia Sweetser. “I’m especially looking forward to working the students across the community in my new role.”
