A… My Name is Alice presents a kaleidoscope of contemporary women in hilarious, insightful, empathetic and at times profound experiences. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even learn a little something more about the women in your life. The New York Times called it “Delightful and so sophisticated…the [creators] would rather tickle a male chauvinist pig to death than hack him to pieces.”

Beverly resident Kelly Murphy is cast in this ensemble musical featuring eight women and one token male. Kelly worked with The Wellesley Players in the past; having choreographed their production of Fiddler on the Roof about five years ago. Kelly comes to A… My Name is Alice as the choreographer in addition to her on stage role.

About A… My Name is Alice Kelly says “While I love choreographing and performing, I have to say, I am so excited to be back onstage in a musical again in “Alice” --- it’s been a while. More often, I seem to be behind the scenes directing or choreographing.” Theater is prevalent in much of Kelly’s life. She coaches students for auditions, choreographs quite a bit and works at the local middle school choreographing and co-directing their annual show. “My husband and I have also performed a number of times together onstage which is always special.” Kelly works the front desk at YogaSakti in Salem. “I love to exercise, hike, kayak and travel with my husband.”

Joan Micklin Silver and Julianne Boyd conceived A… My Name is Alice as a sequence of clever and serious songs, monologues and sketches depicting the trials and tribulations of living as a woman. This bright and lively revue was created by a wide variety of comedy writers including actress Anne Meara as well as lyricists and composers such as David Zippel and Lucy Simon.
