Beverly Residents Asked To Take In The Trees Before Snow

With Christmas tree curbside pickup delayed, residents are asked to move the trees back into the yard Thursday night.

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly residents who put their Christmas trees curbside for pickup are asked to bring them back into the yard in advance of Friday's expected snowfall.

Coronavirus-related staff shortages within city hauler JRM caused a delay in tree pickup this week. But with 4 to 8 inches of snow forecast for Friday morning, there is concern that having trees curbside will interfere with snow removal.

So, Mayor Mike Cahill is asking residents to bring any trees left out on the curb back farther into the yard Thursday night. He said that while JRM continues to have additional staff issues because of the COVID spike, most of those trees will be picked up next week.

"If your regular pickup day is on Tuesday through Friday, your tree pickup will be next week," he said. "You should plan to put your tree back out at the beginning of next week. If your regular trash and recycling pickup is on Monday, please stay tuned. By (Thursday) evening, we will know whether JRM can pick up your trees on Saturday, or whether you’ll also need to wait until next week."
