Drunk Driving Arrest Followed Crash With Property Damage
Vehicle veered off the roadway onto a sidewalk, and struck two small trees and a fence before striking a granite wall.

Beverly Police arrested a 29-year-old Everett man for alelgedly drunk driving and leaving the scene of an early morning property damage accident Sunday on Kernwood Heights.
Police responded to Kernwood Heights for a vehicle travelling at an excessive rate of speed at approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Officers learned that the 2007 Mazda 6 had veered off the roadway onto a sidewalk, and struck two small trees and a fence before striking a granite wall. The vehicle came to a stop in front of 7 Kernwood Heights.

The driver fled, but was apprehended within minutes.
Alexander L. Baptista, 29, of Everett, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, speeding, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and operating to endanger.

He was transported to Beverly Hospital. His arraignment was not scheduled as of Sunday night.
