Judge To Beverly Lewdness Suspect: Talk To A Lawyer

A judge urged 36-year-old Conor McCusker not to try to represent himself and speak with a lawyer during his arraignment Monday.

BEVERLY, MA -- Salem District Court Judge Emily Karstetter recommended that a Beverly man facing felony charges think twice before he tried to represent himself and enter a guilty plea. Conor McCusker, 36, of 1 Chapman Terrace in Beverly, was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly he allegedly exposed himself to a woman he had called over to his truck, which was parked behind A&B Burgers on Cabot Street.

McCusker was released on $500 bail after being charged with open and gross lewdness and disorderly conduct. According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, McCusker announced he wanted to represent himself during his arraignment on Monday. "This is a felony. You might want to speak to a lawyer," Karstetter said. He is scheduled to be back in court on Sept. 28.
