More Parking Relief At Beverly Middle School

Parents and staff will be able to park in a portion on the Cummings Center lot for the remainder of the school year.

BEVERLY, MA -- The city and its school system reached an agreement with Cummings Center Properties to use a designated area for parking for the remainder of the school year. The area is located directly across from the Balch Street entrance of the school, which has been plagued by traffic congestion at pick-up and drop-off times since it opened in September.

"We have been asked to please access this area from Balch Street and not cut through the Cummings Properties," the school district wrote on a blog post announcing the agreement. "Beverly Middle School is very appreciative of this gesture, and we hope that you will be able to utilize this area effectively."

On Monday, a contractor began work to widen the driveway at the school as part of the ongoing traffic mitigation effort. The new, $110 million school opened in September but has been plagued by traffic problems during morning drop off and afternoon pick up.
