No Bail For Beverly Man Accused Of Attempted Murder

Michael Baker, 40, will be held at least until he is evaluated by a court clinic and has a dangerousness hearing.

BEVERLY, MA — A Beverly man who grabbed a woman and pulled her in front of a dump truck Friday was ordered held without bail on charges of attempted murder, assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Gloucester Police say Michael Baker, 40, and a woman were arguing on the sidewalk near 951 Washington Street whenBaker then abruptly grabbed the woman and ran into traffic. Both were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Baker pleaded not guilty in Gloucester District Court Monday afternoon. He was ordered to be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, which will be scheduled after Baker is evaluated by a court clinician.
