North Shore Youth To Show Off Musical Talents In Spring Concerts
The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras include performers from Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.

IPSWICH, MA — Talented youth musicians from throughout the North Shore will perform at this year's Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras spring concerts.
The shows are set for May 15 at 2 and 4:30 p.m. at the Dolan Performing Arts Center in Ipswich.
The 2 p.m. show includes the Prelude and Overture String Ensembles and the Intermezzo Orchestra featuring works by Soon Hee Newbold, John Williams, Elmer Bernstine and others.

The 4:30 p.m. concert features the advanced ensembles, which are the wind Ensemble, Select Flute Choir and Symphony Orchestra. That program is a mix of classical and contemporary music with compositions by Valerie Coleman, Kevin Day, Gustav Holst, Arturo Marquez and more.
The concerts are under the direction of Gerald J. Dolan Jr.

Both concerts are free to the general public with no tickets required.
"NMYO concerts are a great way to experience orchestral music while supporting the musical training of the area’s finest young musicians," organizers said.
NMYO's 132 musicians come from more than 40 towns across the state, including Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.
This year's musicians include Nina Johnson of Marblehead, Arta Freudenberger, Casey Griffin, Eli Hajer-Sirois and William Napierkowski of Salem, Liam Garland of Danvers, Mary Hauck, Grace Wann and Armen Young of Beverly, Lillia Fisher and Devlyn Ruth of Swampscott and Emily Faken of Peabody.
It is highly recommended that audience members be vaccinated and boosted. Masks are encouraged while in the concert hall and lobby.
Auditions for the 2022-2023 concert season take place on June 11. Rehearsals are held weekly just off I-95 and Route 1 in Topsfield/Boxford.
