Obituary: Guy L. Rossi, 85, of Beverly

Guy L. Rossi, CW3, US Army, Ret. 

     Beloved husband of the late Alberta J. (Cassola) Rossi, passed away at home in Beverly Friday, surrounded by his family; he was 85. He was the son of the late Louis and Luisa (DiPalma) Rossi. A 1947 graduate of Beverly High School, he went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Fitchburg State College. During 20 years of military service he served in the Korean War and enjoyed traveling internationally with his family by his side.  Following his US Army career, Guy worked for many years as an industrial engineer and program director. In retirement, he volunteered his time locally at the Edwards School in Beverly and counseled heart patients at the W.Roxbury VA Hospital. He was a current member of the American Legion Post 331 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1522 as well as a past member of the Vittori-Rocci Post.  He was also a Freemason and Shriner. Guy will be remembered for his love of military history, all things mechanical and, above all, his family.

     He is survived by his children Elaine L. Rossi of Houston, TX; Guy A. Rossi and wife Mary Ann of Oak Ridge, TN; Mark D. Rossi and wife Jean of Westford; Paul W. Rossi and Dan Richards of Stoneham; James L. Rossi and wife Kathy of Merrimack, NH; and his grandchildren Afsheen Daniel Shoar, Sarah, David, Amanda, Andrew and Lea Rossi. He is further survived by siblings Marie George, Yolanda Frederikse, Louis Rossi, Rita Colwell, Alfred “Ben” Rossi and Paola Biola.  He is predeceased by son David J Rossi, grandson Peter Rossi, stepmother Rosina Rossi, and siblings Pierine Rossi and Vittorio Rossi.

     Visiting hours will be held at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly Wednesday, July 2 from 5-7 PM. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 10:30AM at St. Mary Cemetery 106 Brimbal Avenue, Beverly with a reception following. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
