Obituary: Katherine Bunk, Founding Member of Ward 2 Civic Association and Member of the Beverly Democratic Committee

Katherine Bunk, born Pierina Montoni, age 98, wife of the late George Bunk who died in 1968, died at her home on February 17, 2015. Born in Millbrook, New York on January 12, 1917, daughter of the late Concetta (Desimone) and Antonio Montoni, she came to Beverly at the age of four and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was educated in the Beverly School system and was a founding member of Ward 2 Civic Association and a member of the Beverly Democratic Committee. She enjoyed antiquing, yard sales and politics. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving her are five children, Barbara Mavragis and her husband Dennis of Beverly; Georgia Drinkwater and her husband Peter of Beverly; Catherine Sullivan of Beverly; Jeffrey Bunk and his wife Donna of Danvers; George Bunk and his wife Faye of Little Falls, NY and son in law John Petronzio of Beverly; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Colantoni of Beverly; Beatrice Henebury of Beverly; Constance Thereault of Beverly; one brother, Philip Montoni of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Marylouise Petronzio and her siblings, Vincenza Giardi, Mary O’Shea, Antonio Montoni, Alphonse Montoni, Pauline Acciavatti and Richard Montoni.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly on Tuesday February 24 at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Monday February 23 from 3 to 7 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 60 Walnut Street, Wellesley, MA 02481.
