BEVERLY, MA -- Police have no suspects and do not know whether two incidents where bullets were found on school property are related, Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill said Tuesday. On Friday, students at Beverly Middle School were ordered to shelter in place while police searched the building after a student found a bullet in the corner of a hallway. And on Monday, a parent found a bullet in the parking lot of Mckeown School, where administrative offices and some school programs are housed.

"This is obviously unsettling for our community," Cahill said at a press conference. "In an effort to keep our children and staff safe, we have asked every parent and guardian to speak with their child or children about safety. And further, to check with their children to make sure they do not have improper items in their possession, or know of any other children who have improper items."

Cahill said the two bullets were different, but declined to specify what type of bullets were found while the investigation is ongoing. Beverly Police said there would be an increased police presence at all school buildings on Tuesday.
