Storm-Disrupted Beverly Homecoming Fireworks Rescheduled

The fireworks show that was canceled this past weekend as severe storms moved through the North Shore has been moved to this weekend.

BEVERLY, MA — The fireworks will go on in Beverly after a postponement because of severe storms this past weekend.

The fireworks at Lynch Park — which traditionally close out Beverly Homecoming week with an exclamation point — had to be canceled on Sunday when a line of strong thunderstorms and lightning moved through the North Shore.

But the fireworks have been rescheduled for this Sunday — Aug. 14 — back at Lynch Park. The start time remains 8:30 p.m.

While most events went on as scheduled, the record-breaking heat and threat of storms did cause some adjustments and other postponements.

The George Robertson Memorial Bike Rodeo scheduled for Friday had to be canceled with a police station open house and helmet giveaway on Sunday put in its place.

The Veterans Friends and Family Cookout also had to be postponed. That has been rescheduled as well with the new date Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza on Ellis Street.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, soda and ice cream will be available. Those attending are invited to bring games, blankets and chairs.
