30 Boston Dunkin’ Donuts Locations To Get Makeover, Coffee On Tap
Dunkin franchisees will see major changes by year's end.
BOSTON, MA – Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owners have announced a multi-million dollar investment to make over 30 Boston-area restaurants by the end of the year.
Company representatives said the makeover, from the Seaport to South Boston to City Hall, aims to bring Dunks devotees speed, convenience, customization and variety of new products from cold-brew coffee on tap to donuts on bakery-style display.
Plans for the brand’s transformation in Boston were revealed Tuesday at the grand re-opening celebration of the newly remodeled Dunkin’ restaurant at City Hall Plaza. The City Hall spot is the first of 30 planned to showcase the company’s makeover, second to the store it opened in Quincy last year.

The new features will include lighter-colored materials and natural light in the store design; all cold beverages will be on tap, with employees serving guests everything from iced tea to cold brew and new Nitro-infused Cold Brew Coffee. Instead of keeping the donuts on the wall behind staff members, the new locations will have a front-counter bakery case. There will also be a mobile order pick-up station for On-the-Go mobile and a digital order tracker to monitor the status of orders in real time.
Uniforms will have a makeover, too, thanks to the company Life is Good. The new shirts will feature messaging such as “Fueled by Positive Energy” and “Drink Coffee. Be Awesome.”

Dunkin' Donuts officials appeared pleased about the makeover, saying they expected to spread it to 50 locations across the country by the end of the year, including the 30 in Boston.
It's no accident that the changes will start in Boston.
“There’s no city where our brand heritage is stronger than Boston, so it is fitting that we accelerate the future of Dunkin’ here by raising the bar on everything that our guests expect from us," company President and CEO David Hoffmann said in a statement.
Franchisees echoed that.
“Boston and Dunkin’ Donuts have a special relationship,” said Clayton Turnbull, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee owner since 1992. “Our next-generation restaurants will keep Bostonians running on Dunkin’ now and long into the future.”
Each restaurant will donate $1 from every beverage sold on its re-opening day to The Greater Boston Food Bank. At today’s grand opening celebration, The Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation supported by Dunkin’ Donuts, kicked off the program by presenting the food bank with a three-year grant for $100,000. The grant is one of nearly 20 made to Feeding America member food banks by the Joy in Childhood Foundation as part of a $1.5 million commitment to support child hunger relief efforts.
