5 Teenagers Arrested After Attempted Vehicle Theft In Boston
The group was found hiding inside a nearby property by police after tampering with two mopeds.
BOSTON, MA — Five teenagers were arrested after allegedly attempting to steal mopeds in the Roxbury neighborhood early Thursday morning, according to the Boston Police Department.
The teens, ranging in age from 14 to 17, were arrested after officers responded at approximately 5:17 a.m. to the area of 21 Maywood St. for a report of a larceny in progress.
While responding, officers were told that five people were behind the property attempting to steal two mopeds. Upon arrival, police reportedly found screwdrivers surrounding a moped that appeared to have been tampered with.

Officers announced their presence and subsequently saw two people inside the basement doorway of 20 Maywood St. Both were taken into custody before three additional teens were located and arrested inside the property.
Those arrested included a 14-year-old from Dorchester, a 15-year-old from Hyde Park, two teens ages 15 and 16 from Roxbury, and a 17-year-old from Roxbury.

All five are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of possession of burglarious tools, breaking and entering during the nighttime, and receiving stolen property.
