6 From MA Killed In Crashes In Last 48 Hours

Six people from Massachusetts have been killed on the roads in the last 48 hours. Among the fatalities were a married couple, a 22-year-old woman, and a woman struck in what police said was a hit-and-run:

New London, NH

Two woman and one man from Boston were identified as the victims of a rollover crash on a New Hampshire interstate Sunday. Sharon Nowrocki, 44, of West Roxbury, as well as Angelo Rossi, 57, and his wife, Kelly, 56, both of Roslindale, were killed after they were ejected from an SUV on I-89 North, just north of Exit 12, in New London.

Somerville

A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run on Mystic Avenue Saturday night. Cheryl Pauline Richards, 52, was killed when she was struck by a Mercedes-Benz driven by 64-year-old Zewdu Abate Gedamu, 64, of Roxbury. Gedamu, who turned himself in Sunday morning, pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of a crash causing personal injury or death and a crosswalk violation.

Norton

A 49-year-old Taunton woman was killed after a crash on I-495 Saturday night. State Police said the woman was driving northbound around Exit 10 when her vehicle collided with another, causing her to veer off the road into a tree. The women's passenger, a 46-year-old Taunton man, was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Shelburne

A 22-year-old woman died after when her Honda struck a tree and rolled over just after midnight Saturday. Taryn Laplante, 22, was driving southbound on Colrain-Shelburne Road when her car crossed over the center line and off the roadway.

Laplante was trapped in the car before responders extricated her. She was flown to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she was pronounced dead.

A 20-year-old Springfield woman, who was a passenger, suffered minor injuries.
