BOSTON, MA —A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday morning near the border of the city's Dorchester and Roxbury neighborhoods.
Billy Thien Nuynh, 23, of Boston, was arrested late Wednesday night on murder and firearms charges, according to the Boston Police Department. He was slated to be arraigned Thursday morning in Dorchester District Court.
The victim was shot outside 564 Blue Hill Ave. in Boston Police District B-2 shortly after 10 a.m. and was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. He was reportedly outside the building fixing a moped when he was shot.
Police Superintendent Paul McLaughlin said during a press conference Wednesday that authorities do not believe the shooting was random.
"When it comes to retaliatory violence, we look to try to get that shooter off the street as quickly as we can," McLaughlin said. "We try to minimize the opportunity for some type of retaliation against or by the same group of people."
