BOSTON, MA — A Dorchester man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Dorchester last month, the Boston Police Department announced.
Hensly Dominique Jeanty, 32, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant charging him with murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and carrying a firearm without a license.
The charges stem from the July 15 shooting death of Breidy Martinez, 29, of Dorchester.
Boston police responded to the area of 15 York St. at approximately 11:53 a.m. July 15 after receiving reports of a person shot. Officers found Martinez suffering from a gunshot wound. Boston EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Martinez was riding a scooter on York Street when he was shot. No arrests had been announced in the case until Jeanty's arrest Wednesday.
Police said the department's Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
