Massachusetts' 1st Natural Winery Opens Bar In Boston

The winery's bottles have appeared at restaurants across the country.

BOSTON, MA — A new wine bar from Massachusetts' first and only natural winery has opened its doors inside Boston Public Market.

Marzae Cellar + Provisions is now welcoming guests during a public soft opening in the Market's largest retail space, bringing together Massachusetts-made natural wine, seasonal New England cuisine and a curated selection of locally made specialty foods. Full operations, including the launch of the business' draft wine program, are expected by mid-August.

Founded in 2023 by husband-and-wife team Eliot Martin and Katie Luczai, Marzae produces natural wines made from locally grown grapes. The winery's bottles have appeared at restaurants across the country and have been recommended by Wine Enthusiast. The Boston Public Market location marks the founders' first permanent hospitality space.

The approximately 95-seat space includes bar seating, lounge areas and full-service dining, along with a retail section selling New England-made products. The menu features seasonal small and large plates, customizable cheese and charcuterie boards, and a limited-time Dine Out Boston prix fixe menu.

Marzae also sources products from several Boston Public Market vendors, including Red's Best, George Howell Coffee and Curio Spice Co. Later this summer, the winery plans to begin serving most of its wines on draft through a refillable growler program. It also plans to launch Off Piste Ferments, a line of kombucha-based nonalcoholic beverages inspired by wine, beer and cocktails.

The opening follows several recent milestones for the winery. Over the past year, Marzae launched MASSeration, a natural wine fair celebrating regional wines and craft beverages, planted what it says is Massachusetts' first regeneratively farmed vineyard in Haverhill and assumed management of an abandoned vineyard in the Berkshires. Grapes from the Berkshire vineyard are expected to be used in the winery's 2026 production.

Boston Public Market opened in 2015 and is home to about 30 New England food producers, artisans and specialty food businesses. The year-round marketplace exclusively sells products that are grown, raised, caught or produced in New England, when seasonally available.
