Trinitarios Gang Member Pleads Guilty In Double Murder

The reported crime took place in Lynn.

BOSTON, MA — A member of the Manchester Chapter of the Trinitarios pleaded guilty in Boston federal court to racketeering charges, including his participation in two murders and two other attempted murders, the United States District Attorney's Office announced.

Kelvin Liranzo Roman, 27, also known as "Whoopty," pleaded guilty to conspiracy to conduct enterprise affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity, commonly known as RICO conspiracy. Liranzo Roman was first arrested and charged in February 2025.

Prosecutors said Liranzo Roman admitted to being a member of the Trinitarios and participating as an accessory before the fact in the Sept. 2, 2023 murders of Jandriel Heredia and Abraham Diaz in Lynn. Three Trinitarios members drove by a gathering on Essex Street and fired numerous rounds at people outside, according to prosecutors. The gathering was a party celebrating a recent high school graduation and a young man preparing to leave for college. Seven people were shot, including Heredia and Diaz, who later died from their injuries.

Liranzo Roman admitted that before the shooting, he brought the vehicle later used in the attack to Lynn, knowing Trinitarios members planned to use it to target rival gang members they believed would be at the party. Prosecutors said the vehicle belonged to a deceased Trinitarios member and was used to send a message to rival gang members. After the shooting, the driver and two shooters were brought to Lawrence before later being taken to Liranzo Roman's residence.

The Trinitarios is a criminal enterprise with thousands of members across the United States, according to prosecutors. Members reportedly follow a Magna Carta, use an internal hierarchy to coordinate and carry out violence, and take steps to conceal the organization and the identities of its members.

Federal racketeering charges against 22 Trinitarios leaders and members were unsealed in February 2025 following a multijurisdictional investigation that began after four murders and a series of attempted murders and shootings in Lynn in 2023. Additional federal racketeering and drug charges against 26 leaders, members and associates of the gang's Lawrence, Haverhill and Boston chapters were unsealed in June. According to court documents, Trinitarios members have also allegedly participated in five additional murders in Essex County since 2017. Liranzo Roman is the 12th defendant to plead guilty in the case.

The charge of racketeering conspiracy carries a potential sentence of up to life in prison, five years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Liranzo Roman is also subject to deportation after completing any sentence imposed.

U.S. Senior District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton scheduled his sentencing for Tuesday, Nov. 17.
