Police Recover Loaded Gun During Traffic Stop In Boston

The man is expected to be arraigned in court on numerous charges.

BOSTON, MA — A Brockton man is facing multiple charges after Boston Police recovered a loaded handgun Wednesday during a traffic stop in the Roxbury neighborhood.

Derron Crawford, 25, was arrested at approximately 8:45 p.m. near 2918 Washington St. after officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force and Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit saw a vehicle violate several auto laws while traveling on Seaver Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop and ordered Crawford and a passenger out of the vehicle.

After both complied with the order, officers frisked the vehicle and reportedly recovered a Glock 26 handgun loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition from the rear seat area, police said. Crawford was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, fourth offense, carrying a firearm without a license, firearm violation with three prior violent or drug crimes, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, and possession of ammunition without an FID card, subsequent offense. Crawford was also issued a Massachusetts uniform citation for violating auto laws.
