BOSTON, MA — A man is facing multiple charges after Boston Police recovered a loaded handgun Sunday night following a foot pursuit in Dorchester.

Dorchester resident Tu-merrick Joseph Brown, 25, was arrested at approximately 11:08 p.m. near 8 Michigan Ave. after officers saw him among a large group in the area of Old Road and Michigan Avenue following the conclusion of the Dominican Festival. During that incident, which occurred on Sunday, Aug. 2, near 48 Havelock St., Brown allegedly crashed into multiple vehicles and a police cruiser after seeing officers in the area. Police reportedly recovered a loaded firearm underneath the driver's seat of the vehicle, but Brown was able to flee the scene.

Officers, knowing Brown had an outstanding warrant stemming from the previous incident, attempted to approach him Sunday night before he allegedly fled on foot down Michigan Avenue. Officers pursued Brown and apprehended him in the rear of 8 Michigan Ave., where police reportedly recovered a firearm from inside his pant leg.

The firearm was determined to be a Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition, according to police.

Brown was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, subsequent offense, carrying a firearm without a license, subsequent offense, firearm violation with a prior violent or drug crime, and possession of ammunition without an FID card, subsequent offense.

Brown also had an outstanding warrant issued out of Dorchester District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and possession of ammunition without an FID card, according to police.

During the booking process, officers discovered an additional warrant issued by Plymouth Superior Court for aggravated organized retail crime, serial theft, and two counts of larceny over $1,200 in a single scheme.
